Let's set Claude up properly.
Michelle, this is the walk through I'd give you if we were sitting at the same desk with a cup of tea, and I've kept it to eight short steps because that's honestly all it takes. By the end, Claude will know who you are, what Burstows is and how you like things done, and it will be able to do pieces of work for you rather than only answer questions.
EIGHT STEPS · ABOUT AN HOUR · 10/10/2026
Three things to have ready before we start.
A paid Claude plan.
Pro is plenty. Projects work on the free plan, but Cowork and Claude in Chrome don't, and those two are where the real time saving is.
The Claude app on your computer.
Download it from claude.com/download, Mac or Windows. Steps 6 and 7 need it, because the website on its own can't open the folders on your computer.
Google Chrome.
Step 7 only works in Chrome, so Safari and Edge are out for that one, and so is your phone.
Steps 1 to 5 are one sitting, about 45 minutes, and most of that is you answering questions about Burstows that you could answer in your sleep. Steps 6, 7 and 8 are ten minutes each and can happily wait for another day.
The eight steps.
Step 1: Projects.
A folder inside Claude where everything Burstows lives, so you never start from a blank page again.
Open step 1 ↗Step 2: Your settings file.
One page that tells Claude who you are, what Burstows is and how you like things done.
Open step 2 ↗Step 3: The questions.
Sixteen questions the settings file answers, and you already know every one of them.
Open step 3 ↗Step 4: The prompt.
Paste this in and Claude interviews you, one question at a time, then writes the file for you.
Open step 4 ↗Step 5: Load the project.
Put the file where Claude reads it at the start of every conversation.
Open step 5 ↗Step 6: Cowork.
Claude that does the task rather than talking about it, in a folder on your computer.
Open step 6 ↗Step 7: Claude in Chrome.
Claude in your browser, reading the page you're on and filling in forms beside you.
Open step 7 ↗Step 8: Artefacts.
What the panel beside the chat is, and what to do with the things that land in it.
Open step 8 ↗If you get stuck, come and find me.
Book a time, bring the screen you're stuck on, and we'll sort it out together. And if it was the guide that was unclear, I'll fix the guide.
