Step 7 of 8

Claude in your browser, beside you.

Claude in Chrome is a small addition to Google Chrome. It opens as a panel down the side of the window, reads the page you're on, and can click, type and fill in forms for you while you watch.

Claude· Claude in Chrome

What it's for.

It's for the jobs that are small but relentless, like reading a long page and telling you what actually matters, filling in the same form for the fifth time this week, pulling a supplier's details off their website into a note, or drafting a reply in your webmail with the whole thread already read. It works on the page in front of you, so there's nothing to copy across.

Do this.

  1. Open Google Chrome on your computer.

It doesn't work in Safari or Edge, and not on a phone.

  2. Go to the Chrome Web Store, search for Claude in Chrome, and click Add to Chrome.

  3. Sign in with your Claude account when it asks.

  4. Pin it. Click the puzzle piece at the top right of Chrome, then the pin beside Claude.

It now has its own button beside the address bar.

  5. Open any page, click the Claude button, and ask for something small: Summarise this page in five lines.

Keeping it safe.

Claude asks before it does anything that matters, and you can watch it work. Start on sites you trust, keep it away from internet banking, and don't leave it running on its own on a page where a wrong click costs something. If it heads somewhere you didn't expect, press Stop. I'd treat it like a careful new assistant you're still training: very good at the tedious parts, and still supervised.
